Vikings acquiring RB Jordan Mason from 49ers in exchange for 2025 pick swap, 2026 sixth-round pick

The Minnesota Vikings have acquired running back Jordan Mason from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2025 pick swap and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

Trade Details

The Vikings will send their 2025 fifth-round pick (160th overall) and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the 49ers. In return, Minnesota receives San Francisco’s 2025 sixth-round pick (187th overall), resulting in a net gain of 27 spots in the draft order. 

Jordan Mason’s Performance

Mason, 26, joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the 49ers in 2020. He has served as a reliable backup to All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey. In the 2024 season, Mason filled in admirably during McCaffrey’s absence, ranking third in the NFL in rushing yards after eight games. 

Contract Details

Upon joining the Vikings, Mason signed a two-year contract worth up to $12 million, with $7 million guaranteed.

The addition of Mason enhances the Vikings’ running back depth, providing a strong complement to incumbent starter Dalvin Cook. Mason’s experience and proven performance offer valuable support in Minnesota’s backfield.
