Pecco Bagnaia Tells Marc Marquez: “We Will Work Together Until…”
Reigning MotoGP champion Pecco Bagnaia has acknowledged the potential teamwork between himself and Marc Marquez in the upcoming season but made it clear that their collaboration has limits. The Ducati factory rider emphasized that while they may find themselves working together in certain situations, their ultimate goal remains individual success.
A New Rivalry on the Same Bike
With Marc Marquez joining the factory Ducati team in 2025 after his single season with Gresini Racing, the MotoGP grid is set for an electrifying battle between two of the sport’s biggest names. Bagnaia, the back-to-back world champion, knows that Marquez’s arrival adds another layer of competition within the team. However, he also recognizes the advantages of having a multiple-time champion as his teammate.
“We will work together until the moment comes when we are fighting for the same goal,” Bagnaia said in a recent interview. “There will be situations where we help each other—like in qualifying, analyzing data, and improving the bike. But when it’s time to fight for the championship, everyone races for themselves.”
Mutual Respect, But No Team Orders
Despite their competitive nature, both Bagnaia and Marquez have expressed mutual respect. The Italian sees Marquez’s addition as an opportunity for Ducati to grow even stronger, but he remains focused on defending his title.
“I respect Marc a lot, but my main objective is to keep winning. Having him on the same bike will push both of us to improve, but at the end of the day, we are rivals,” Bagnaia added.
Marquez, known for his aggressive riding and relentless pursuit of victory, has already hinted that he won’t settle for a secondary role at Ducati. After adapting quickly to the Desmosedici with Gresini, he has his sights set on challenging for the championship immediately in 2025.
Ducati’s Internal Battle Looms
Ducati has dominated MotoGP in recent years, and the arrival of Marquez alongside Bagnaia raises questions about how the team will manage two strong title contenders. While Ducati has traditionally allowed its riders to race freely, tensions could rise if both are in contention for the title deep into the season.
Bagnaia’s statement signals a clear understanding: collaboration will exist when it benefits them both, but once the championship battle heats up, it’s every rider for themselves.
With the 2025 season shaping up to be one of the most intense in recent history, all eyes will be on the Ducati garage to see how this potential rivalry unfolds. Will Bagnaia maintain his dominance, or will Marquez dethrone him on the same machinery? One thing is certain—MotoGP fans are in for a thrilling ride.
