Marc Márquez Reveals Why He Won’t Clash with Pecco Bagnaia: ‘I Respect Him Too Much’

MotoGP fans love a fierce rivalry, but Marc Márquez has made it clear that his relationship with reigning champion Pecco Bagnaia won’t turn into a bitter feud. The eight-time world champion recently addressed speculation about tension between them, explaining why he has no intention of falling out with Bagnaia—even as they battle for supremacy on the track.

Márquez and Bagnaia: A Mutual Respect

Speaking candidly about their dynamic, Márquez emphasized that respect is the foundation of their relationship. While some rivalries in MotoGP history have been fueled by drama, Márquez insists that’s not the case with him and Bagnaia.

“I respect Pecco too much to have a problem with him,” Márquez stated. “We are both competitive, we both want to win, but there is no need for unnecessary conflict. On track, we push each other to the limit, but off track, there is mutual admiration.”

Why There’s No Bad Blood

Many expected tension to rise between the two as Márquez prepares for his debut season with Ducati’s factory-supported Gresini team. With Bagnaia being the face of Ducati’s factory squad, some believed Márquez’s arrival could disrupt team harmony. However, the Spaniard has made it clear that he isn’t interested in stirring controversy.

“We have different paths, but we share the same passion,” Márquez said. “At the end of the day, what matters is giving our best and making the fans excited about MotoGP.”

Fierce Battles, No Drama

While Márquez and Bagnaia will undoubtedly go wheel-to-wheel in the 2025 season, the veteran insists that their rivalry will remain purely competitive.

“We will fight hard on Sundays, and there will be intense moments,” Márquez admitted. “But that’s racing—it doesn’t have to turn personal.”

With both riders aiming for glory, fans can expect thrilling battles on track, but don’t count on a heated off-track war. Márquez is laser-focused on his comeback, and Bagnaia is determined to defend his title—two giants clashing with skill, not animosity.
