Patrick Mahomes suffers major blow to Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl chances

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a setback to their Super Bowl hopes as it was announced that wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown will likely miss the entire 2024 regular season. Brown, who signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Chiefs during the offseason, injured his shoulder in a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10.

Head coach Andy Reid confirmed the seriousness of the injury, stating that Brown’s recovery would take months, not weeks.

Brown’s injury is a significant blow to the Chiefs’ offense, as he was expected to play a key role alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Brown, a former first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens, had been looking to revitalize his career in Kansas City after a couple of underwhelming seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He had cited Mahomes and the Chiefs’ winning culture as major factors in his decision to join the team, despite being able to earn more money elsewhere.

The loss of Brown leaves Mahomes without a key weapon, putting additional pressure on the Chiefs’ remaining receivers as they pursue another Super Bowl run.
