Gilbert Arenas with some harsh truth on the Mediadel frantically trying to protect Michael Jordan’s legacy

Gilbert Arenas recently shared some strong opinions about the media’s handling of Michael Jordan’s legacy, and he didn’t hold back. The former NBA star expressed his belief that the media has been overly protective of Jordan’s legacy, often downplaying or ignoring the achievements of other great players in favor of preserving Jordan’s status as the greatest of all time (GOAT).

Arenas pointed out that while Jordan’s impact on the game is undeniable, the media’s reluctance to acknowledge the greatness of other players, such as LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, or even more recent stars, has created a skewed narrative. According to Arenas, this approach does a disservice to the evolution of the game and the achievements of players who have also made significant contributions to the sport.

He argued that the media’s focus on Jordan’s legacy often comes at the expense of fair comparisons and balanced discussions about other players’ careers. Arenas emphasized that while Jordan’s accomplishments are legendary, the game’s growth and the emergence of new talents should be celebrated without always being overshadowed by comparisons to Jordan.

In his candid remarks, Arenas called for a more objective and open-minded approach to discussing basketball greatness, one that allows for a broader appreciation of the sport’s history and its players. He believes that this would lead to a richer, more diverse conversation about what it means to be the GOAT, rather than simply defaulting to Jordan as the standard by which all others are judged.
